Sur Restaurant, featuring eclectic cuisine, brings a taste of the exotic to the trendy corner of Melrose and Robertson.
Known more for its Beverley Hills housewife owner and waitstaff from their own drama-filled reality tv show then it’s chef or food, Sur is a popular restaurant and quite hard to get into. We were told to come at 5pm when they open their doors and they would try to get us a table…which we did.
The other tables there looked to be doing the same thing as us, looking around for a ‘famous’ face…phones strategically angled ready to take a sneaky shot from afar.The menu was quite good, seemed homely…which was a nice change having been traveling for the last two weeks..living on mostly burgers and hotdogs. We ordered a few entrees to share: fried goat’s cheese balls, chicken and shrimp dumplings (pictured below) and we ordered the shrimp and crab cakes, however ended up being served the fried calamari… After trying to get the aspiring actresses/waiter’s attention for a while, we gave up and ate it.. It was fine…Standard fried calamari.
For mains, 2 of us ordered the Filet Mignon with the choice of 2 sides (which I found a bit pub-ish) I got grilled vegetables and chips (pictured below). The steak was beautiful, cooked to perfection. My friend ordered the rack of lamb which looked good however she struggled to eat whilst still looking like an elegant lady. The main came out within 5 minutes of the entrees being cleared which always makes me picture a buffet style set up in the kitchen of pre-cooked food…All up it was a satisfying meal to eat.
For dessert we ordered a slice of new york cheesecake to share…I’m not big on desserts, but this was pretty bloody good.
We moved into the lounge part of the venue for some cocktails, it was packed, the reality tv stars serving us our very strong, tasty cocktails. It had a great atmosphere.
